Kura / Noni |
Kura (Morinda Citrifolia), as it is known in Fiji or as Noni, has been widely used in the Pacific for many generations as a tonic for good health. Noni juice is of real benefit in natural beauty and skin care. Noni juice offers impressive amounts of helpful vitamins, minerals, and other phytonutrients, including potent antioxidants. The antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties of Noni see it of potential benefit in skin complaints such as acne, minor wounds, allergic skin reactions and generally of real benefit for mature and sensitive skin types. The variety of antioxidant compounds in the juice serve to protect the skin from free radical damage, as from UV exposure and pollution. Studies demonstrate that the juice is rich in protective chemical constituents, known as anthraquinones, which have collagen stimulating effects and help prevent the formation of wrinkles on the skin.
Our Yalo Fiji Body Lotion uses natural Noni juice grown and processed in Fiji in our products. |
Dilo oil | Dilo oil is renowned as an ancient beauty and healing secret that Fijians have been using for centuries. And modern research has demonstrated the benefits of Dilo oil for a variety of disorders. There is a long list of disorders that Dilo oil has been used as a treatment for. Dilo is found throughout tropical islands in the Pacific and Indian oceans and the oil derived from the nuts is known and used as a powerful healing oil. Dilo oil benefits include: Speeds the healing of minor wounds and burns, including sunburn. Helps to calm and soothe acne, eczema, psoriasis and skin irritation in general. Helps to reduce scars, including acne scars. With its regenerating and anti-inflammatory qualities, Dilo oil is particularly useful for sensitive, mature and dry skin; for after-sun products and to reduce irritation after shaving, hair removal and on. Dilo oil absorbs readily into the skin, leaving the skin smooth and soft and without a heavy residual oiliness. |
Mango Seed Butter | If you have ever eaten a mango, you know how large the seed is! The seed is rich in an oily butter, removed through expeller pressing. Mango Butter is another tropical treat for the skin. Its long-lasting emollience nourishes the skin and boosts its elasticity as well as its suppleness, helping to reduce the appearance of fine lines and firming the skin. Mango Butter is highly moisturising and is excellent to use in products to treat very dry skin, and when our skin has been over-exposed to sunlight, wind and other environmental stresses |
Totodro | (Also known as Gotu Kola) is native to Fiji and southeast Asia. It is an important herb that has been used traditionally in Indian Ayurvedic medicine, traditional Chinese medicine and in traditional Fijian medicine, both for topical use and for ingestion. Totodro has been long used and shown in research studies to speed the healing of wounds and burns and to reduce the formation and shrinkage of scars, such as stretchmarks in pregnancy. Anti-aging. As with the healing of wounds, Totodro increases the production of collagen serving to help prevent and reduce fine lines and wrinkles and firms the skin. Totodro has good antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, making it useful for irritated and sensitive skin. Totodro demonstrates a strengthening and toning effect on veins, making it useful for complaints such as spider veins. All together, Totodro is a much appreciated anti-aging herb, excellent for mature skin, sensitive, irritated skin, for after-sun care and more. |
Sikeci Nut oil | Also known as Kukui Nut, Sikeci (Aleurites moluccana) trees are found in Fiji, Hawaii and throughout Oceania, having been domesticated by humans over 12,000 years ago in Indonesia. Like the well-known healing oils of Rose Hip and Hemp Seed, Sikeci nut oil is a tropical alternative that contains high levels of the Essential fatty acids (EFA’s or ‘Vitamin F’) of linoleic and alpha-linolenic acids, along with natural antioxidants such as Vitamin E. Sikeci Nut, rich in Essential fatty acids, is excellent for the skin. The oil penetrates the top layers of the skin easily, relieving dry skin conditions. Sikeci Nut oil is beneficial for skin regeneration, making it a good anti-aging oil, helping to minimise fine lines, wrinkles and scars. With its very light consistency, the oil serves to unblock pores and reduce inflammation, helping to relieve and prevent acne. The oil is easily absorbed by the skin and is an excellent moisturiser. |
Mokosoi flower | Mokosoi (Cananga odorata), also known as ‘Ylang Ylang’ is a most beautifully scented flower, known to many in the Pacific. In Fiji, it is common to see this flower used as fragrance for a body oil. The essential oil distilled from the flowers has a beautiful floral, sweet aroma and has been shown in both research and experience to be quite calming and relaxing. Mokosoi oil is very soothing on the skin, helping to relieve irritation and sensitivity. It also helps to balance the production of sebum (our skin ‘oil’), making this a beneficial extract for oily and acne-prone skin. |
Aloe Vera | Grown in tropical locations around the world, Aloe Vera juice is well known and appreciated for its moisturising, soothing and healing benefits on the skin. We use certified organic Aloe Vera juice in our Yalo Fiji products, for skin hydration, skin rejuvenation and its soothing; anti-inflammatory benefits. |
Macadamia Nut Oil | This beautiful oil is sourced from its native country, Australia. The oil is rich in palmitoleic acid (24% to 36%), a monounsaturated fatty acid that is hardly found at all in other vegetable oils but which is a natural component of our natural skin sebum. Macadamia oil also contains Vitamin E and tocotrienols, which together are natural antioxidants, helping to reduce free radical damage in the skin, a major cause of aging skin appearance. It is a highly emollient oil and can be useful for dry and/or mature skin with palmitoleic fatty acid having beneficial anti-aging and anti-inflammatory effects. The oil has a smooth, non-greasy after effect. It also appears to have a slight sunscreen effect as well. Studies have demonstrated that palmitoleic acid does speed the healing of wounds. |
